It's been exactly a week since Maddy had her first (and I Pray only) Febrile Seizure. Before I became a mommy I would always see this quote "to have a child is to decide to forever have your heart go around walking outside of your body". I would read it and never put much thought into it until now. I understand the heaviness of those words. That day, Maddy had a fever and was extremely clingy to me. We snuggled a lot and she spent the majority of the day sleeping which is completely out of character for her because she normally has so much energy. Around 1 I stripped her down to her diaper and payed a cool wash rag on her as she napped. She woke up sometime around 2 and I checked
her temperature and it was 100.1. We went in the living room to play and she seemed to be feeling a little better because earlier that day she didn't want anything to do with any of her toys. Flash forward 20 minutes later and she is on the floor with her eyes rolling back. I will never be able to put into words the helplessness and desperation I felt while watching her tiny little body go through this. I just want to take a minute to say how much I appreciate 911 dispatchers. I can't imagine laying down at the end of the day with all of the panicked and desperate peoples voices running through my head. This dispatcher really got me through this she was so calm and stayed with me until the ambulance arrived.

Daddy was at the hospital within 15 minutes and not long after Maddy was sitting up in the hospital bed saying "da da, da da". She spent the rest of the time sleeping off and on. When all of this was happening I honestly thought I was losing my baby and it was one of the most traumatic experiences I have had. In the moment I felt like I was on autopilot but over this past week I have seen just how much it affected me. The worst part was her blank stare for a while after. I will never forget it.
I thank God that Maddy is healthy and that this fever was only caused by a viral thing . I really have no idea how all of the parents with sick babies make it day to day it's the most heartbreaking thing!!

In case you are a mommy or daddy and like me, know nothing about Febrile Seizures here is a link to read about it:

I was really stumped on what to do for my husband this Father's Day. While I love buying special gifts for him, homemade gifts are always more sentimental. I came across this idea on another bloggers page and thought it was so cute!

Materials Needed:
  • Shrinky Dinks Paper (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for $4.99)
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Sharpies and Colored Pencils
  • Keychains
  • Photo you want to trace
Start by placing your shrink Paper on top of your photo and begin tracing with your sharpie. Next, you color your photo with the colored pencils but you don't necessarily have to (the transparent paper looks amazing without color).

When you are finished coloring your picture it may look light but once it bakes the colors brighten up! Next, you cut out your photo. Don't forget to punch a hole for your keychain. The next step will be to preheat your oven to 325 degrees and bake it for 1-3 minutes. My suggestion for this step would be as soon as you get it out of the oven press down on it with parchment paper or something to make sure they dry flat. I didn't do this and mine curled, but my husband still loved it!!

The last step is to put it on your keychain. This was so fun to do and I was surprised at how cool my husband thought it was! Below is the finished product and the photo I was using to trace!! (This was a photo from his first Father's Day with Maddy)
